Professor’s question:

There is a growing debate about the use of laptop computers and tablets in university classrooms. On one hand, these devices allow for quick note-taking and easy access to online resources. On the other hand, they can be a major source of distraction, tempting students to browse the internet or social media during a lecture. Should universities restrict the use of these devices in class? Why or why not?

Student response 1:

In my opinion, universities should not restrict laptops. We are adults and should be responsible for our own learning. For many, typing is faster than writing, which helps in capturing more detailed notes. Also, professors can share links and resources that we can access immediately during the lecture.

Student response 2:

I believe laptops should be restricted because they negatively impact the learning environment. When one student is browsing a distracting website, it doesn't just affect them; it also distracts the students sitting behind them. Therefore, a no-laptop policy ensures that everyone can focus better on the professor.
