Professor's question: After finishing high school, some students choose to take a "gap year" to travel or work before starting university. They believe this provides valuable life experience. Others argue it's better to continue with academic studies immediately to maintain momentum and graduate sooner. Which approach do you think is more beneficial for a young person's overall development and future career? Why do you think so?

Student response 1:

Student response 1: I think taking a gap year is more beneficial. It allows students to mature and gain real-world skills that can't be taught in a classroom. For instance, working or volunteering abroad builds independence and a better understanding of the world, which makes them more focused when they finally start university.

Student response 2: I believe students should go directly to university because it keeps their academic momentum going. It can be difficult to return to a study mindset after taking a full year off. Furthermore, starting their career a year earlier gives them a head start on earning and gaining professional experience.
