Professor's question: Many companies are experimenting with a four-day work week, where employees work four longer days instead of five shorter ones for the same pay. Proponents claim this boosts employee morale and productivity. However, critics worry about the impact on customer service and the risk of employee burnout from longer workdays. Do you think the potential benefits of a four-day work week outweigh its potential drawbacks? Why?

Student response 1: I believe the four-day work week is an excellent model. It gives employees more personal time, which reduces stress and improves their overall well-being. As a result, they come to work more refreshed and focused, which ultimately increases their productivity and benefits the company in the long run.

Student response 2: I am not convinced that it's a good idea for most businesses. For example, some industries need to be available to customers five days a week, and a shorter week could lead to a loss of business. Also, working ten-hour days could be very tiring for employees.
