Professor’s question:

In our discussion on global education, let's consider study abroad programs. These experiences offer significant cultural and personal growth. However, they can also be expensive and potentially delay a student's graduation timeline. Some argue that the benefits of international immersion are so great that universities should strongly encourage these programs. Do you believe the benefits of studying abroad outweigh the potential drawbacks for the average student? Why or why not?

Student response 1:

I definitely think the benefits are worth it. Studying abroad pushes students out of their comfort zones and teaches them independence. Moreover, experiencing a new culture firsthand provides a global perspective that you just can't get from a textbook. It is an invaluable part of a complete education.

Student response 2:

I see it differently. While it's a great opportunity, it's not practical for everyone. Many students have to work to pay for tuition, so they cannot afford the extra cost or time away from their job. Therefore, it should remain an optional experience, not a recommended standard.
