Professor’s question:

In many university courses, professors assign group projects. The main goal is to help students develop collaboration skills, which are essential in the modern workplace. However, students often complain that group work can be inefficient and unfair, with some members doing more work than others. In your opinion, do the benefits of group projects outweigh their drawbacks? Why?

Student response 1:

I believe group projects are very valuable because they teach us how to communicate and compromise, which are important skills for any career. For instance, working with different personalities prepares you for real-world team environments, even though it can be challenging at times.

Student response 2:

I disagree because group projects often result in an unfair distribution of work. One or two dedicated students usually end up doing everything, while others contribute very little. As a result, the final grade doesn't accurately reflect each individual's effort or understanding of the material.
