While digital news is instantly accessible and often free, some argue it has led to a decline in journalistic quality and an increase in misinformation. Do you believe the move to online news has been more beneficial or harmful to society? Why?

Student response 1: I think the shift to online news has been largely beneficial. It has democratized information, allowing more people to access news from diverse sources instantly and without cost. For example, we can follow events happening across the world in real-time, which makes us more informed global citizens.

Student response 2: I believe the move has been more harmful because the quality of journalism has suffered. Online news often prioritizes speed and clicks over accuracy and in-depth reporting. As a result, it has become much harder for people to distinguish between reliable news and misinformation, which is dangerous for society.
