Professor’s question:

With the rise of digital technology, the use of laptops and tablets in university lectures has become common. Many students find them useful for taking notes quickly and accessing online resources. However, some instructors are concerned that these devices can be a major source of distraction. Do you think the benefits of allowing laptops in classrooms outweigh the drawbacks? Why?

Student response 1:

I think allowing laptops in class is very beneficial. Students can type notes much faster than they can write, which helps them capture more information from the lecture. In addition, they can quickly look up related concepts online, so it makes learning more interactive and efficient.

Student response 2:

I believe laptops should be discouraged because they are a huge distraction. It is too easy for students to get off-task and browse social media or shop online. This not only hurts their own learning but also distracts students sitting behind them. As a result, the overall classroom focus is weakened.
