Professor’s question:

We are discussing the role of cultural institutions in society. A major debate surrounds museums: should they offer free admission to everyone? Proponents argue that free access makes art and history available to all citizens, regardless of their financial situation. Opponents, however, claim that ticket sales are essential for funding museum operations and preservation efforts. Which side of this argument do you support, and why?

I strongly support free admission for museums because it promotes cultural education for everyone. When museums are free, families and students with limited budgets can visit more often. As a result, it makes our shared history and art more inclusive and accessible to the entire community.

While I understand the goal of accessibility, I think museums should charge an admission fee. These institutions have significant costs, such as preserving artifacts and paying expert staff. Therefore, ticket revenue is crucial for their survival and for creating the high-quality exhibits that attract visitors.
