Professor: Good morning. Today we're beginning our unit on innovative design, and I want to introduce a concept called biomimicry. Simply put, it's the practice of creating solutions to human challenges by emulating strategies found in nature. For instance, the design of early airplane wings was directly inspired by the shape and function of bird wings to achieve lift. This principle has been applied in fields from architecture to medicine, proving that nature is often our most brilliant engineer. We'll explore more examples this week.
