Professor’s question:

Many cities are encouraging citizens to use public transportation, such as buses and trains, instead of private cars to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution. However, others argue that investing in better roads and parking is more practical because people value the convenience and freedom of driving their own cars. Which approach do you think is better for a modern city's development? Why?

Student response 1:

I strongly support investing more in public transportation. It is a far more sustainable solution that benefits everyone by reducing traffic and improving air quality. Moreover, a good public transit system makes the city more accessible for people who cannot afford or are unable to drive a car.

Student response 2:

I think cities should focus on improving infrastructure for private cars. Most people prefer the convenience and flexibility of driving, so it makes sense to support that choice. For example, building more efficient highways and parking structures directly addresses the daily needs of the majority of commuters.
