Professor: So far this term, we've focused on the major political and military events of the Roman Empire. But for the next two weeks, we're going to shift our focus to something different: the daily life of an average Roman citizen. What did they eat? What were their homes like? What did they do for entertainment? By examining things like ancient recipes, excavated housing layouts, and public graffiti, we can piece together a more personal and, I think, a more interesting picture of this ancient civilization.
