Announcing Springfield's new Curbside Compost Program! Starting October 1st, residents can divert food scraps from the landfill by using our new green bin service. This initiative aims to reduce waste and create nutrient-rich compost for city parks. To participate, you must first request a green bin by filling out the form on the city services website. Bins will be delivered within two weeks of your request. Once you receive your bin, you can start collecting approved materials like fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, and eggshells. A detailed list of what is and isn't compostable is included in the welcome packet with your bin. Place your bin at the curb on your regular trash collection day. Together, we can make Springfield a greener city!
