Professor: Good morning. Today, we're going to start our discussion on cognitive biases. Specifically, I want to introduce 'confirmation bias.' This is the tendency to search for, interpret, and recall information in a way that confirms one's preexisting beliefs. For example, if you believe a certain political candidate is dishonest, you're more likely to notice and remember news stories that support that view, while ignoring ones that don't. This can significantly affect our decision-making and judgment, often without us even realizing it.
